जम्मू-कश्मीर के बारामूला के उरी सेक्टर में 21 अक्टूबर को सुरक्षाबलों ने दो आतंकियों को तब मार गिराया, जब वे एलओसी पार करने की कोशिश कर रहे थे। मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार दोनों आतंकी एक बड़े ग्रुप का हिस्सा थे। भारत में घुसकर वे आतंकी गतिविधियों को अंजाम देने का प्रयास करने वाले थे। इसके लिए उन्होंने लगातार बारिश और खराब विजिबिलिटी का सहारा लेकर LoC पार करने की कोशिश की। लेकिन सेना की नजर में आ गए तो ऑपरेशन चलाकर इस मुहिम को अंजाम दिया।
मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार इस घुसपैठ का इनपुट इंटेलिजेंस एजेंसियों और जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस से मिला था। इसके बाद सेना ने इस ओर कार्रवाई शुरू की गई। आतंकियों के साथ इनकाउंटर में उन्होंने सेना पर फायरिंग शुरू कर दी। दोनों तरफ से देर रात तक गोलीबारी होती रही, इसमें दो आतंकी ढेर हो गए। बाकी आतंकी वापस अपनी सीमा में लौट गए। वे म’रे हुए आतंकियों के श’व भी ले गए। जबकि घटनास्थल से कई हथियार मिले। इनमें दो एके सीरीज की राइफल्स, 6 पिस्तौल, चार चीनी ग्रेनेड, कंबल और खून से सने दो बैग मिले जिनमें पाकिस्तानी और भारतीय करेंसी, पाकिस्तानी दवाएं और खाने का सामान था।

In the encounter with the terrorists, they started firing on the army. Firing continued from both sides till late night, in which two terrorists were killed. The remaining terrorists returned back to their limits. They also took away the bodies of the dead terrorists. While many weapons were found from the spot. These included two AK series rifles, 6 pistols, four Chinese grenades, blankets and two blood-stained bags containing Pakistani and Indian currency, Pakistani medicines and food items.
