घटना साल 1991 में सितंबर महीने की है। बूंदी जिले रहने वाला ओमप्रकाश उर्फ शम्भूदयाल 30 साल की उम्र में कोटा में रहने वाली एक विवाहिता को लेकर फरार हो गया। वह अपने साथ विवाहिता के गहने और करीब 15 हजार रुपये भी ले गया। महिला के पति ने आरोपी के खिलाफ केस दर्ज कराया। पुलिस ने मामले की जांच शुरू की। इसी बीच सात दिन बाद महिला घर वापस आ गई, लेकिन आरोपी ओमप्रकाश का कुछ पता नहीं चला।

एक बार भागने के बाद कभी गांव नहीं लौटा

पुलिस से बचने के लिए आरोपी अपने गांव नीम खेड़ा भी नहीं आया। इसी बीच उसने शादी कर ली और नाम बदलकर पत्नी के साथ जयपुर में रहने लगा। शादी के बाद वह पांच बच्चों का पिता बना। उधर, कोर्ट ने आरोपी ओमप्रकाश को उदघोषित अपराधी घोषित किया और पुलिस ने उस पर 20 हजार रुपये का इनाम रख दिया।

चुनाव के कारण पुलिस के रडार पर आया

इधर, विधानसभा चुनाव से पहले पुलिस ने अपराधियों को पकड़ने का अभियान शुरू किया तो 32 साल पुराने केस में आरोपी ओमप्रकाश एक बार फिर पुलिस के रडार पर आ गया। पुलिस को आरोपी के गांव सूचना मिली कि वह जयपुर में नाम बदलकर रह रहा है। पुलिस की एक टीम जयपुर के लिए रवाना हुई और आरोपी के बारे में जानकारी जुटाना शुरू किया।

पांच दिन बाद पुलिस को मिली सफलता

पुलिस टीम के जवानों ने आरोपी ओमप्रकाश को पकड़ने के लिए अपना हुलिया बदला। आरोपी जयपुर के जिस कनोत इलाके में रह रहा था वहां पुलिस के जवानों ने दूधवाला बनकर और पानी के पताशे का ठेला लगाकर उसके बारे में जानकारी जुटाई। इसके बाद नाम बदलकर रह रहे ओमप्रकाश को गिरफ्तार किया गया। पिछले 32 साल से वह यहां शंभुदयाल बनकर रह रहा था। आरोपी पांच बच्चों का पिता है। उसकी एक बेटी की शादी हो चुकी है। आरोपी के साथ उसकी पत्नी और बच्चे भी मजदूरी करते हैं। बता दें कि पुलिस ने उसे करीब दस दिन पहले गिरफ्तार किया है।
