महान क्रिकेटर ग्रेग चैपल ने खुलासा किया है कि वह वित्तीय संकट से जूझ रहे हैं और उनके मित्रों ने उनकी मदद के इरादे से पैसा जुटाने के लिए ऑनलाइन अभियान शुरू किया है. ऑस्ट्रेलिया का यह 75 वर्षीय पूर्व कप्तान 2005 से 2007 तक भारत का मुख्य कोच भी रहा और उनका कार्यकाल विवादास्पद रहा. 

चैपल ने जानिए क्या कहा

चैपल ने स्वीकार किया कि वह मुश्किल में नहीं हैं लेकिन अपने क्रिकेटर करियर को देखते हुए शानदार जीवन भी नहीं बिता रहे हैं. चैपल ने कहा, ‘‘मैं बहुत बुरी स्थिति में नहीं हूं. मैं निश्चित तौर पर इस तरह नहीं दिखाना चाहता कि हम बहुत मुश्किल में हैं क्योंकि हम नहीं है लेकिन हम लग्जरी जीवन भी नहीं जी रहे हैं.

चैपल ने कहा कि मुझे लगता है कि अधिकांश लोगों को लगता है कि हमने क्रिकेट खेला इसलिए हम सभी विलासिता का जीवन जी रहे हैं. निश्चित तौर पर हम गरीब नहीं हैं लेकिन हमें आज के खिलाड़ियों जैसे फायदे भी नहीं मिल रहे.’’ खबर के अनुसार चैपल ‘हिचक’ के साथ ‘गो-फंड-मी’ अभियान के लिए राजी हुए जो उनके लिए तैयार किया गया था. 

कहा- बहुत से खिलाड़ियों का हाल बुरा

इसके तहत पिछले हफ्ते मेलबर्न क्रिकेट ग्राउंड में दोपहर भोज का आयोजन किया गया जिसकी मेजबानी एडी मैग्वायर ने की और उनके भाइयों इयान और ट्रेवर ने भी इसमें शिरकत की. चैपल ने कहा कि वह अपने युग के एकमात्र खिलाड़ी नहीं हैं जो वित्तीय समस्याओं का सामना कर रहे हैं. चैपल के मित्र पीटर मेलोनी ने कहा कि उन्हें इस अभियान से लगभग ढाई लाख डॉलर जुटाने की उम्मीद है जिससे उनके अंतिम कुछ वर्षों के जीवन के स्तर में काफी सुधार होने की उम्मीद है.

Legendary cricketer Greg Chappell has revealed that he is struggling with financial crisis and his friends have started an online campaign to raise money to help him. This 75-year-old former captain of Australia was also the head coach of India from 2005 to 2007 and his tenure was controversial.

Chappell admitted that he is not in any trouble but considering his cricketing career, he is also not living a luxurious life. Chappell said, “I am not in a very bad situation. I certainly don't want to make it seem like we're in dire straits because we're not, but we're not living a luxury life either.

Chappell said that I think most people think that because we played cricket, we are all living a life of luxury. Of course, we are not poor but we are also not getting the benefits like today's players.'' According to the news, Chappell 'reluctantly' agreed to the 'Go-Fund-Me' campaign which was prepared for him.

Said- condition of many players is bad

Under this, a lunch was organized at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last week which was hosted by Eddie Maguire and his brothers Ian and Trevor also attended it. Chappell said that he is not the only player of his era who is facing financial problems. Chappell's friend Peter Maloney said he hoped to raise about $250,000 from the campaign, which would hopefully greatly improve his quality of life in his last few years.
