राजस्थान चुनाव में बना रिकॉर्ड; बाबा बालकनाथ सहित 4 पुजारी जीते इलेक्शन, चर्चा में क्यों?

राजस्थान विधानसभा चुनाव में भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के टिकट पर चुनावी समर में उतरे चार पुजारी या महंत विधायक चुने गए हैं। पार्टी ने कांग्रेस द्वारा कथित तौर पर अल्पसंख्यक तुष्टिकरण के मुद्दे को उठाते हुए हिंदुत्व के मुद्दे पर मतदाताओं को लुभाया था। राज्य के इतिहास में संभवत: पहली बार चार पुजारी या महंत एक साथ राज्य विधानसभा में नजर आएंगे। इनमें हवामहल से बालमुकुंद आचार्य, पोकरण से महंत प्रताप पुरी, सिरोही से ओटाराम देवासी और तिजारा से बाबा बालक नाथ शामिल हैं। 

देवासी पहले भी विधायक रह चुके हैं और वसुंधरा राजे के नेतृत्व वाली पिछली भाजपा सरकार में  मंत्री के रूप में काम कर चुके हैं। बाकी तीनों विधायक विधानसभा में नए हैं। अलवर से सांसद बाबा बालकनाथ तिजारा सीट से जीते हैं और अक्सर अपनी टिप्पणियों से विवादों में रहे हैं।  हवामहल सीट से निर्वाचित बालमुकुंद आचार्य इलाके में मंदिरों के खिलाफ एक अभियान शुरू करने को लेकर चर्चा में आए थे।

आचार्य का एक वीडियो सोमवार को सामने आया जिसमें वह कथित तौर पर अपने निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के चांदी की टकसाल इलाके में सड़क किनारे नॉन वेज भोजन बेचने वाली दुकानों को हटाने का निर्देश एक अधिकारी को फोन पर देते हुए नजर आ रहे हैं। इसमें वह कह रहे हैं,''क्या सड़क पर खुले में नॉनवेज बेच सकते हैं? हां या ना में जवाब दें। क्या आप उनका समर्थन कर रहे हैं? वह कह रहे हैं कि चांद की टकसाल इलाके में सड़क किनारे नॉन वेज बेचने वाली दुकानों को हटाएं। उनके लाइसेंस चैक करें। मैं शाम को आपसे रिपोर्ट लूंगा। रिपोर्ट आप मुझे देंगे या मुझे लेने आपके पास आना होगा? उन्हें फोन पर यह कहते हुए सुना जा सकता है कि सड़कों के किनारे नॉनवेज बनाने वाले ठेले वाले तुरंत प्रभाव से नहीं दिखने चाहिए। मैं शाम को आपसे रिपोर्ट लूंगा।

बालमुकुंद ने हवा महल निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में कांग्रेस के आर आर तिवारी को 914 वोटों के मामूली अंतर से हराया। इसी सीट पर मुस्लिम मतदाताओं की संख्या काफी अधिक है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान जयपुर में रोड शो किया था। आचार्य ने अपने प्रचार अभियान के दौरान दावा किया था कि हवा महल क्षेत्र में कई मंदिरों को एक साजिश के तहत ध्वस्त कर दिया गया था और लोगों को आश्वासन दिया था कि अगर भाजपा सत्ता में आई, तो इनका पुनर्निर्माण किया जाएगा।

मुंडारा माता मंदिर के महंत ओटाराम देवासी वसुंधरा राजे के नेतृत्व वाली पिछली भाजपा सरकार में  मंत्री थे। वह 2018 के चुनाव में हार गए। इस बार वह सिरोही से निर्वाचित हुए हैं। बाकी तीनों पुजारी विधानसभा में नए हैं। बाबा बालकनाथ ने तिजारा सीट पर जीत दर्ज की है जहां भाजपा 1951 से लेकर 2018 के के बीच केवल एक बार जीती थी। यहां अपने आक्रामक प्रचार के साथ बालक नाथ ने कांग्रेस के इमरान खान को हराकर 6173 वोटों के अंतर से जीत हासिल की। इस सीट पर मतदान में दूसरा सबसे ज्यादा 86.11 प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ।

चुनाव आयोग ने बालकनाथ को उनके उस बयान पर नोटिस दिया था जिसमें उन्होंने विधानसभा चुनावों की तुलना भारत-पाकिस्तान मैच से की थी। हालांकि बाद में उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि वह मतदान प्रतिशत बढ़ाने के लिए लोगों को अधिक से अधिक संख्या में आने के लिए प्रोत्साहित कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा था कि इस बार चुनाव भारत-पाकिस्तान मैच जैसा है। यह सिर्फ जीत की लड़ाई नहीं है, यह मतदान प्रतिशत की भी लड़ाई है। उन्होंने कहा था कि वे कबिला एकजुट हो गए हैं और हमें मतदान प्रतिशत के साथ उनकी योजनाओं को हराना है ताकि भविष्य में वे कभी भी एकजुट होने और हमारे सनातन धर्म को हराने की साजिश करने की हिम्मत न करें। हालांकि बाद में बालकनाथ ने कहा था कि मैं चुनाव में मतदान प्रतिशत बढ़ाने के लिए लोगों को अधिक से अधिक संख्या में मतदान करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित कर रहा हूं।

वहीं राज्य की सुदूर पोकरण सीट पर भाजपा ने एक बार फिर महंत प्रताप पुरी को कांग्रेस के सालेह मोहम्मद के खिलाफ खड़ा किया गया था। पुरी ने 2018 के चुनाव में मुस्लिम धार्मिक नेता गाजी फकीर के बेटे सालेह मोहम्मद के हाथों मिली अपनी हार का बदला लिया। सालेह मोहम्मद ने गत विधानसभा चुनाव में महंत प्रताप पुरी को सिर्फ 872 वोटों से हराया था। इस बार भी दोनों के आमने सामने होने से यह राज्य की सबसे चर्चित सीटों में से एक रही। राज्य में इस सीट पर सबसे ज्यादा मतदान प्रतिशत रहा और महंत पुरी ने 35,427 वोटों के अंतर से जीत हासिल की। प्रताप पुरी बाड़मेर के तारातरा मठ के महंत हैं।

सिरोही के ओटाराम देवासी ने तब सुर्खियां बटोरी थीं जब उन्हें तत्कालीन वसुंधरा राजे सरकार में उन्हें गो-पालन मंत्रालय का प्रभार दिया गया। मुंडारा माता मंदिर के महंत देवासी ने 2023 के चुनाव में निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार और निवर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत के विशेषाधिकारी संयम लोढ़ा को 35805 वोटों से हराकर जीत हासिल की है।

भाजपा ने इस बार के विधानसभा चुनाव में एक भी मुस्लिम को उम्मीदवार नहीं बनाया। पार्टी ने उदयपुर में दो मुसलमानों द्वारा दर्जी कन्हैया लाल की नृशंस हत्या, राज्य के विभिन्न शहरों में हुए दंगे आदि के लिए कांग्रेस पर तुष्टिकरण का आरोप लगाते हुए इसे प्रमुख चुनावी मुद्दा बना दिया। प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी से लेकर भाजपा के विभिन्न मुख्यमंत्रियों ने राज्य में चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान कांग्रेस पर जोरदार धावा बोला और हिंदुत्व कार्ड से मतदाताओं को लुभाने का प्रयास किया।

राज्य की कुल 200 में से 199 विधानसभा सीट पर मतदान हुआ जिसके वोटों की गिनती रविवार को की गई। इसमें भाजपा को 115 सीटों के साथ बहुमत मिला जबकि कांग्रेस 69 सीट पर सिमट गई। तीन सीट भारत आदिवासी पार्टी, दो सीट बहुजन समाज पार्टी (बसपा), एक-एक सीट राष्ट्रीय लोकदल (आरएलडी) ने और राष्ट्रीय लोकतांत्रिक पार्टी (आरएलपी) और आठ निर्दलीय उम्मीदवारों ने जीत हासिल की है। करणपुर सीट पर कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार के निधन के कारण चुनाव स्थगित कर दिया गया।

Record made in Rajasthan elections; 4 priests including Baba Balaknath won the elections, why in discussion?

In the Rajasthan Assembly elections, four priests or Mahants, who contested on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, have been elected MLAs. The party had wooed voters on the Hindutva issue by raising the issue of alleged minority appeasement by the Congress. Probably for the first time in the history of the state, four priests or Mahants will be seen together in the state assembly. These include Balmukund Acharya from Hawamahal, Mahant Pratap Puri from Pokaran, Otram Dewasi from Sirohi and Baba Balak Nath from Tijara.

Dewasi has also been an MLA and served as a minister in the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje. The remaining three MLAs are new to the assembly. Baba Balaknath, MP from Alwar, wins from Tijara seat and has often been in controversies with his comments. Balmukund Acharya, elected from Hawamahal seat, was in the news for launching a campaign against temples in the area.

A video of Acharya surfaced on Monday in which he is seen allegedly giving instructions on phone to an officer to remove roadside shops selling non-veg food in the Silver Mint area of his constituency. In this he is saying, "Can non-veg be sold openly on the road?" Answer yes or no. Are you supporting them? He is saying that the roadside shops selling non-veg in Chand Ki Taksal area should be removed. Check their licenses. I will take the report from you in the evening. Will you give me the report or will I have to come to you to collect it? He can be heard saying on the phone that vendors selling non-veg on the roadside should not be seen with immediate effect. Balmukund defeated RR Tiwari of Congress by a narrow margin of 914 votes in Hawa Mahal constituency. The number of Muslim voters is very high in this seat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did a road show in Jaipur during the election campaign. Acharya, during his campaign, had claimed that several temples in the Hawa Mahal area were demolished as part of a conspiracy and had assured people that if the BJP came to power, they would be rebuilt.

Ottaram Dewasi, Mahant of Mundara Mata Temple, was a minister in the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje. He lost the 2018 election. This time he has been elected from Sirohi. The remaining three priests are new to the assembly. Baba Balaknath has won the Tijara seat where BJP had won only once between 1951 and 2018. Here, with his aggressive campaigning, Balak Nath defeated Imran Khan of Congress and won by a margin of 6173 votes. This seat had the second highest turnout of 86.11 percent.

The Election Commission had served notice to Balaknath over his statement in which he had compared the assembly elections to an India-Pakistan match. However, he later clarified that he was encouraging people to come in greater numbers to increase the voting percentage. He had said that this time the elections are like an India-Pakistan match. This is not just a fight for victory, it is also a fight for voting percentage. He had said that those tribes have united and we have to defeat their plans with the voting percentage so that in future they never dare to unite and conspire to defeat our Sanatan Dharma. However, Balaknath later said that I am encouraging people to vote in maximum numbers to increase the voting percentage in the elections.

At the remote Pokaran seat of the state, BJP once again pitted Mahant Pratap Puri against Saleh Mohammad of Congress. Puri avenged his defeat in the 2018 elections at the hands of Saleh Mohammad, son of Muslim religious leader Ghazi Faqir. Saleh Mohammad had defeated Mahant Pratap Puri by only 872 votes in the last assembly elections. This time also, due to both of them being face to face, it remained one of the most discussed seats in the state. This seat had the highest voting percentage in the state and Mahant Puri won by a margin of 35,427 votes. Pratap Puri is the Mahant of Taratara Math of Barmer.

Otram Dewasi of Sirohi had made headlines when he was given the charge of Cow Husbandry Ministry in the then Vasundhara Raje government. Mahant Dewasi of Mundara Mata Temple has won the 2023 elections by defeating independent candidate and outgoing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's aide Sanyam Lodha by 35805 votes.

BJP did not make even a single Muslim a candidate in this assembly election. The party made it a major election issue by accusing Congress of appeasement for the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal by two Muslims in Udaipur, riots in various cities of the state etc. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to various Chief Ministers of BJP, during the election campaign in the state, they strongly attacked Congress and tried to woo voters with the Hindutva card.

Voting was held in 199 assembly seats out of total 200 in the state, the votes of which were counted on Sunday. In this, BJP got majority with 115 seats while Congress was reduced to 69 seats. Three seats have been won by Bharat Adivasi Party, two seats by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), one seat each by Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and eight independent candidates. The election on Karanpur seat was postponed due to the death of the Congress candidate.
