भारत के महान स्पिनर बिशन सिंह बेदी का निधन, 77 साल की आयु में ली अंतिम सांस

भारत के पूर्व क्रिकेटर बिशन सिंह बेदी का निधन हो गया है। वह 77 साल के थे। बेदी ने भारत के लिए कुल 77 अंतरराष्ट्रीय मैच खेले थे। इस दौरान उन्होंने 273 विकेट झटके थे। बेदी को भारतीय टेस्ट इतिहास के बेहतरीन स्पिनरों में माना जाता है। उन्होंने अपने दम पर देश को कई मैच जिताए थे। बिशन सिंह बेदी के बेटे का नाम अंगद बेदी और बहु का नाम नेहा धूपिया है। ये दोनों भारतीय फिल्म जगत में जाना-माना नाम हैं। 

मशहूर स्पिनर चौकड़ी का थे हिस्सा

बेदी ने भारत के लिए 1966 से 1979 तक टेस्ट क्रिकेट खेला था। वह भारत की मशहूर स्पिन चौकड़ी का हिस्सा रहे हैं। उनके अलावा इसमें इरापल्ली प्रसन्ना, श्रीनिवास वेंकटराघवन और भागवत चंद्रशेखर थे। चारों ने मिलकर 231 टेस्ट खेले और 853 विकेट हासिल किए।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ किया था सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन

बेदी ने 1969–70 में कोलकाता टेस्ट में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ एक पारी में 98 रन देकर सात विकेट लिए थे। यह एक पारी में उनका सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन रहा। वहीं, मैच की बात करें तो 1977–78 में पर्थ के मैदान पर ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ 194 रन देकर कुल 10 विकेट झटके थे। उन्होंने टेस्ट में इकलौता अर्धशतक 1976 में कानपुर टेस्ट में न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ लगाया था।

भारतीय टीम की कप्तानी भी की थी

बिशन सिंह बेदी को भारतीय टीम की कप्तानी करने का भी मौका मिला था। उन्हें 1976 में यह जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई थी। बेदी को महान क्रिकेटर मंसूर अली खान पटौदी की जगह कप्तान बनाया गया था। बतौर कप्तान उन्हें पहली जीत वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ पोर्ट ऑफ स्पेन में 1976 के दौरे पर मिली थी। इसके बाद इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ घरेलू मैदान पर टेस्ट सीरीज में 3-1, ऑस्ट्रेलिया दौरे पर टेस्ट सीरीज में 3-2 और पाकिस्तान दौरे पर टेस्ट सीरीज 2-0 से मिली हार के बाद उन्हें कप्तानी से हटा दिया गया था। उनके बाद सुनील गावस्कर कप्तान बने थे।

भारत के लिए 67 टेस्ट मैच में उन्होंने 266 विकेट लिए। उन्होंने 15 बार पारी में पांच विकेट लेने का कारनामा किया और एक बार मैच में 10 विकेट भी लिए। वहीं, 10 वनडे मैच में उन्होंने सात विकेट झटके।

Former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi has passed away. He was 77 years old. Bedi played a total of 77 international matches for India. During this period he had taken 273 wickets. Bedi is considered among the best spinners in Indian Test history. He had won many matches for the country on his own. Bishan Singh Bedi's son's name is Angad Bedi and daughter-in-law's name is Neha Dhupia. Both of them are well-known names in the Indian film industry.

Was part of the famous spinner quartet

Bedi played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979. He has been a part of India's famous spin quartet. Apart from him, it featured Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Bhagwat Chandrashekhar. Together all four played 231 Tests and took 853 wickets.

Best performance was against Australia

Bedi took seven wickets for 98 runs in an innings against Australia in the Kolkata Test in 1969–70. This was his best performance in an innings. At the same time, if we talk about the match, in 1977–78, a total of 10 wickets were taken for 194 runs against Australia at Perth ground. He scored his only half-century in Test against New Zealand in the Kanpur Test in 1976.

Also captained the Indian team

Bishan Singh Bedi also got a chance to captain the Indian team. He was entrusted with this responsibility in 1976. Bedi was made the captain in place of great cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. His first win as captain came against the West Indies at Port of Spain in the 1976 tour. After this, he was removed from the captaincy after losing 3-1 in the Test series against England at home, 3-2 in the Test series on Australia tour and 2-0 in the Test series on Pakistan tour. After him Sunil Gavaskar became the captain.

He took 266 wickets in 67 test matches for India. He achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings 15 times and once also took 10 wickets in a match. At the same time, he took seven wickets in 10 ODI matches.
