कोरोना वायरस के J.1 वेरिएंट पर बढ़ती चिंताओं के बीच विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) की पूर्व मुख्य वैज्ञानिक डॉ. सौम्या स्वामीनाथन ने जनता को आश्वस्त किया है कि अभी घबराने की कोई जरूरत नहीं है। स्वामीनाथन ने इस तथ्य की ओर इशारा किया कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र स्वास्थ्य एजेंसी ने तनाव को रुचि के प्रकार के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया है, चिंता के प्रकार के रूप में नहीं।

JN.1 प्रकोप के बारे में 10 जरूरी बातें

भारत में अब तक JN.1 सब वेरिएंट के 26 मामले सामने आए हैं, जिससे लोगों और सरकार की चिंता बढ़ गई है। 25 मामलों में से 19 गोवा में, चार राजस्थान में और एक-एक केरल, दिल्ली, महाराष्ट्र में पाए गए हैं।

गोवा में पाए गए JN.1 सब वेरिएंट के सभी 19 मामलों की निष्क्रियता की पुष्टि की गई है। मरीजों से एकत्र किए गए नमूनों की जीनोम सिक्वेंसिंग के दौरान वेरिएंट का पता चला था।

राज्य के महामारी विशेषज्ञ डॉ. प्रशांत सूर्यवंशी ने पीटीआई को बताया कि J.1 वेरिएंट वाले मरीजों में हल्के लक्षण थे और वे अब ठीक हो गए हैं।

जहां बुधवार को J.1 सब-वेरिएंट के दो कोविड मामले जैसलमेर में सामने आए, वहीं दो अन्य मामले गुरुवार को जयपुर में सामने आए।

इस बीच, भारत में 594 ताजा कोविड-19 मामले दर्ज किए गए, जिससे सक्रिय संक्रमणों की संख्या बढ़कर 2,669 हो गई।

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने JN.1 को वर्तमान साक्ष्यों के आधार पर कम समग्र जोखिम के साथ, इसके मूल वंश BA.2.86 से अलग, रुचि के एक प्रकार के रूप में वर्गीकृत किया है।

ब्लूमबर्ग के अनुसार, इंग्लैंड और स्कॉटलैंड में हर 24 में से लगभग 1 व्यक्ति को कोविड-19 है, जिसमें लंदन सबसे अधिक प्रभावित क्षेत्र है क्योंकि अत्यधिक संक्रामक JN.1 वेरिएंट तेजी से फैलता है।

जैसा कि यूके स्वास्थ्य सुरक्षा एजेंसी और राष्ट्रीय सांख्यिकी कार्यालय की एक संयुक्त रिपोर्ट से संकेत मिलता है, इसका प्रसार 18 से 44 वर्ष की आयु के व्यक्तियों में सबसे अधिक है।

Amid growing concerns over the J.1 variant of the Corona virus, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, former chief scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO), has assured the public that there is no need to panic right now. Swaminathan pointed to the fact that the United Nations health agency classifies stress as a type of interest, not a type of anxiety.

"We need to be cautious but we don't need to worry, because we don't have any data to suggest that this variant JN.1 is more serious or that it causes pneumonia...we don't have any data," he said. "There is no data as to which of these is going to cause more deaths."

Swaminathan said, "I think what we need to do is try to take the usual preventive measures that we are all familiar with now. We were familiar with Omicron, so it's the same family. So not much "But 1 or 2 new mutations have come." "I think WHO has said let's keep an eye on this. It's a form of interest. It's not a form of concern," he said.

10 important things about the JN.1 outbreak

So far, 26 cases of JN.1 sub-variant have been reported in India, which has increased the concern of the people and the government. Of the 25 cases, 19 have been found in Goa, four in Rajasthan and one each in Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra.

All 19 cases of the JN.1 sub-variant detected in Goa have been confirmed to be inactivated. The variant was detected during genome sequencing of samples collected from patients.

State epidemiologist Dr Prashant Suryavanshi told PTI that patients with the J.1 variant had mild symptoms and have now recovered.

While two Covid cases of J.1 sub-variant were reported in Jaisalmer on Wednesday, two more cases were reported in Jaipur on Thursday.

Meanwhile, India recorded 594 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the number of active infections to 2,669.

The World Health Organization has classified JN.1 as a variant of interest, distinct from its parent lineage BA.2.86, with low overall risk based on current evidence.

About 1 in every 24 people in England and Scotland has COVID-19, according to Bloomberg, with London the worst-hit area as the highly contagious JN.1 variant spreads faster.

As indicated by a joint report by the UK Health Protection Agency and the Office for National Statistics, its prevalence is highest among individuals aged 18 to 44 years.

The report attributes the rising cases to colder weather, shorter days and increased social interaction during the winter season, which creates a favorable environment for the transmission of respiratory viruses.

The overall Covid prevalence rate across England and Scotland is 4.2 per cent, with London the worst-affected area at 6.1 per cent.
