राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत ने घोषणा की है कि राज्य बिहार की तरह जाति-आधारित जनगणना कराएगा. शुक्रवार को जयपुर में राज्य पार्टी की बैठक के बाद गहलोत ने मीडिया से बातचीत में ये बात कही.

सीएम गहलोत ने कहा, “कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने कांग्रेस के रायपुर अधिवेशन में जाति जनगणना की व्यवस्था बनाई थी और उसी आधार पर यहां भी इसे करेंगे. राजस्थान सरकार भी बिहार की तरह जाति जनगणना कराएगी. हम इस अवधारणा को लेकर चलेंगे कि होनी जनसंख्या के आधार पर लोगों की भागीदारी होनी चाहिए. बिहार की तर्ज पर जाति आधारित जनगणना कराने के निर्देश दिए जाएंगे.”

बिहार सरकार ने जाति सर्वेक्षण डेटा जारी किया जिसमें दिखाया गया कि अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग (ओबीसी) और अत्यंत पिछड़ा वर्ग (ईबीसी) मिलकर राज्य की आबादी का 63 प्रतिशत हैं.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced that the state will conduct a caste-based census like Bihar. Gehlot said this while talking to the media after the state party meeting in Jaipur on Friday.

CM Gehlot said, “Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had made arrangements for caste census in the Raipur session of Congress and will do it here on the same basis. Rajasthan government will also conduct caste census like Bihar. We will follow the concept that people's participation should be based on population. Instructions will be given to conduct caste based census on the lines of Bihar.”

The Bihar government released caste survey data showing that Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) together constitute 63 percent of the state's population.
