दीवाली की रात जब शहर में लोग लक्ष्मी पूजन और आतिशबाजी में व्यस्त थे तब बीकानेर पुलिस जुआरियों के पीछे भाग रही थी। लेकिन जुआरियों के मुखबिर भी काफी सक्रिय थे, पुलिस के पहुंचने से पहले ही जुआरियों को सूचना मिल जाती। बावजूद इसके पुलिस ने हार नहीं मानी और देर रात तक कार्रवाई जारी रही। ताश के पत्तों पर खेल रहे जुए से ताश के पत्ते भी जब्त किए गए, लेकिन जुआ जारी रहा। अभी भी शहर के कईं इलाकों में जुआ चल रहा है।
कोतवाली थाना क्षेत्र में तीन लोगों को जुआ खेलते पकड़ा, जिनसे 2520 रुपये मिले। नयाशहर में 13 लोगों के पास 39420 बरामद किए गए। मुक्ताप्रसाद थाना क्षेत्र में पांच लोगों से 16350 और गंगाशहर में 16 लोगों के पास 70640 रुपये की राशि बरामद की गई।

Three people were caught gambling in Kotwali police station area, from whom Rs 2520 was recovered. 39420 were recovered from 13 people in Nayashahr. An amount of Rs 16350 was recovered from five people in Muktaprasad police station area and Rs 70640 was recovered from 16 people in Gangashahar.
