कुश्ती महासंघ के अध्यक्ष पद पर बृजभूषण शरण सिंह के करीबी के चुनाव जीतने पर पहलवान बजरंग पूनिया ने पद्म श्री पुरस्कार लौटा दिया है। शुक्रवार को उन्होंने बड़ा ऐलान करते हुए कहा कि यह चुनाव बताता है कि पहलवानों का भविष्य अब सुरक्षित नहीं रहेगा। इससे पहले गुरुवार को साक्षी मलिक ने खेल ही छोड़ने का ऐलान कर दिया था। बजरंग पूनिया ने यह सम्मान ट्विटर पर एक खत लिखकर लौटाने का ऐलान किया है। इसमें उन्होंने सीधे पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी को संबोधित करते हुए लिखा है कि मुझे अर्जुन अवॉर्ड, खेल रत्न और पद्मश्री सम्मान से नवाजा गया था। मेरा हर जगह अर्जुन अवार्डी कहकर सम्मान किया जाता रहा है, लेकिन जब हम महिला पहलवानों का ही सम्मान सुरक्षित नहीं रख सके तो फिर इनके बोझ तले दबकर मैं अपनी जिंदगी नहीं जी पाऊंगा।

बजरंग पूनिया ने लिखा है कि जिन बेटी-बेटियों को बेटी बचाओ, बेटी पढ़ाओ का ब्रांड अंबेसडर बनना था, उन्हें अपने खेल से ही बाहर होना पड़ा है। इसके बाद भी हम 'सम्मानित' पहलवान कुछ भी नहीं कर सके। यह हमारे लिए कचोटने वाली बात है। बृजभूषण शरण सिंह के करीबी संजय सिंह के कुश्ती महासंघ के अध्यक्ष का चुनाव जीतने का जिक्र करते हुए बजरंग पूनिया ने कहा कि इन लोगों ने जीत के बाद दावा किया कि दबदबा है और रहेगा। इसी मानसिक दबाव में आकर ओलंपिक पदक विजेता एकमात्र महिला पहलवान साक्षी मलिक ने खेल से ही संन्यास लेने का ऐलान कर दिया। बृजभूषण की इस जीत के चलते हम सभी की रात रोते हुए निकली। 

हमारी तो रात रोते हुए गुजरी, इन सम्मानों का हम क्या करें?
बजरंग पूनिया ने लिखा, 'समझ नहीं आ रहा था कि कहां जाएं, क्या करें और कैसे जिएं। इतना मान सम्मान दिया सरकार ने और लोगों ने। क्या इसी सम्मान के तले दबकर घुटता रहूं। साल 2019 में मुझे पद्मश्री से नवाजा गया। खेल रत्न और अर्जुन अवॉर्ड से भी सम्मानित किया गया। जब ये सम्मान मिले तो बहुत खुशी हुई और लगा कि जीवन सफल हो गया। लेकिन आज उससे कहीं ज्यादा दुखी हूं और ये सम्मान मुझे कचोट रहे हैं। कारण सिर्फ एक ही है, जिस कुश्ती के लिए हमें ये सम्मान मिले, उसमें हमारी साथी महिला पहलवानों को अपनी सुरक्षा के लिए कुश्ती तक छोड़नी पड़ रही है।'

जिनका दबदबा है, उनकी परछाई से भी डरती हैं महिला पहलवान
यही नहीं बजरंग पूनिया ने महिला खिलाड़ियों के कुश्ती छोड़ने पर कहा कि यह बड़ा झटका है। उन्होंने लिखा, 'खेल हमारी महिला खिलाड़ियों के जीवन में बदलाव लेकर आए थे। पहले देहात में कोई यह कल्पना नहीं कर सकता था कि देहाती मैदानों में लड़के और लड़कियां साथ खेलते दिखेंगे। लेकिन पहली पीढ़ी की महिला खिलाड़ियों की हिम्मत के कारण ऐसा हो सका। हर गांव में आपको लड़कियां खेलती दिख जाएंगी और वे खेलने के लिए देश-विदेश तक जा रही हैं। लेकिन जिनका दबदबा कायम हुआ है या रहेगा, उनकी परछाई तक महिला खिलाड़ियों को डराती है और अब तो वे पूरी तरह से दोबारा काबिज हो गए हैं।'

On Friday, he made a big announcement saying that this election shows that the future of wrestlers will no longer be secure. Earlier on Thursday, Sakshi Malik had announced to leave the sport. Bajrang Punia has announced to return this honor by writing a letter on Twitter. In this, while directly addressing PM Narendra Modi, he has written that I was awarded Arjun Award, Khel Ratna and Padmashree award. I have been honored everywhere by calling me an Arjun Awardee, but when we could not protect the respect of women wrestlers, then I will not be able to live my life under their burden.

Bajrang Punia has written that the daughters who were to become the brand ambassadors of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, had to be left out of their game. Even after this, we 'respected' wrestlers could not do anything. This is a painful thing for us. Referring to Sanjay Singh, close to Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, winning the election of the President of the Wrestling Federation, Bajrang Punia said that after the victory, these people claimed that they have dominance and will remain so. Under this mental pressure, Sakshi Malik, the only woman wrestler to win an Olympic medal, announced her retirement from the sport. Due to this victory of Brij Bhushan, we all spent the night crying.

We spent the night crying, what should we do with these honours?
Bajrang Punia wrote, 'I could not understand where to go, what to do and how to live. The government and the people gave so much respect. Should I continue to suffocate under this respect? In the year 2019, I was awarded Padmashree. Also honored with Khel Ratna and Arjun Award. When I received this honour, I felt very happy and felt that life had been successful. But today I am more sad than that and these honors are hurting me. There is only one reason, in the wrestling for which we got this honor, our fellow women wrestlers have to leave even wrestling for their safety.

Women wrestlers are afraid even of the shadow of those who dominate them
Not only this, Bajrang Punia said on women players leaving wrestling that it is a big shock. He wrote, 'Sports had brought changes in the lives of our women players. Earlier, no one in the rural areas could have imagined that boys and girls would be seen playing together in the rural fields. But this could happen because of the courage of the first generation female players. You will see girls playing in every village and they are going even within the country and abroad to play. But those whose dominance has been established or will remain so, even their shadow scares the female players and now they have completely taken over again.
