लगातार पांचवें दिन शहर लू की चपेट में रहा। भरी दाेपहर आधे शहर में अचानक बारिश हाेने लगी। सड़कें गीली हाे गईं। आधा शहर सूखा ही रहा। बावजूद इसके न लू पर लगाम लगी, न तापमान में कोई कमी आई। अधिकतम तापमान 45 डिग्री और रात का पारा 32 डिग्री रहा।

सुबह से ही तेज हवाएं बता रही थी कि दिन में सड़कों पर लू नाचेगी। हुआ भी वही। दोपहर 12 बजे के बाद हवा सीधी शूल सी चुभने लगी। एक बजे ही पारा 44 डिग्री के करीब पहुंच गया था। 2 बजे 44.4 डिग्री तक पहुंचा। चार बजे धीरे धीरे बादलों ने आधे शहर को घेरना शुरू किया।

पवनपुरी, व्यास कॉलोनी,गंगाशहर, अंबेडकर सर्किल, रानीबाजार समेत केईएम रोड तक बारिश हुई। बारिश भी इतनी की सड़कें गीली हो गई। केईएम रोड पर तो सड़क पर पानी भी बहने लगा। तपिश और लू के बीच हुई बारिश ने लोगों को हैरान भी किया और सुकून भी दिया लेकिन गिन्नाणी, हनुमानहत्था, करणीनगर से लेकर लालगढ़ साइड में इक्का-दुक्का बूंदें ही गिरी।

आधे शहर में बारिश की हलचल तो आधे में सूखा रहा क्योंकि जब रानीबाजार साइड में बारिश हुई तो उसी बीच तेज हवाएं चल पड़ी। हवाएं बादलों को उड़ाकर ले गई इसलिए आधा शहर सूखा ही रहा। फर्क सिर्फ इतना रहा कि शाम 6 बजे तापमान 42 डिग्री पर आ गया। लू चलनी बंद हो गई क्योंकि हवा थम गई। 25 के बाद संभावित तापमान 45 से 48 डिग्री के बीच रहने के आसार हैं।

सूर्य ने राैद्र रूप दिखाना शुरू कर दिया है। धरती आग उगलने लगी है। बीएसएफ के जवानों ने गर्म रेत पर पापड़ सेक कर हालात बयां किया। खुद काे गर्मी से पूरी तरह बचाकर सीमा की सुरक्षा में मुस्तैद हैं। माैसम विभाग ने आने वाले दिनाें में तापमान 48 डिग्री तक जाने की आशंका जताई है। मंगलवार काे दाेपहर में तापमान 45 डिग्री तक जा पहुंचा, लेकिन शाम काे आंधी और बूंदाबांदी से राहत मिली है, लेकिन गर्मी अब कहर ढा रही है।

सीमा की सुरक्षा के लिए तैनात बीएसएफ के जवान ऐसे विपरीत हालात में भी पूरी तरह चाैकस हैं। शरीर काे वर्दी और सूती वस्त्र से पूरी तरह ढके हुए पेट्राेलिंग कर रहे हैं। गर्मी काे देखते हुए तारबंदी के पास हर एक किमी पर पेयजल के इंतजाम किए गए हैं। पानी का टैंकर बार-बार चक्कर लगाता रहता है।

आमजन के साथ-साथ लू के थपेड़ों से पशु-पक्षियों को बचाने के लिए पब्लिक पार्क स्थित वन विभाग के रेस्क्यू सेंटर में भर्ती हिरणों और मोर-कबूतरों सहित अन्य पक्षियों के लिए कूलर की व्यवस्था की गई है। वन्य जीवों के आसपास बार-बार ठंडे पानी का छिड़काव किया जा रहा है, ताकि उन्हें लू के थपेड़ों से बचाया जा सके।
