मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद मुइज्जू का कहना है कि वह कभी भी भारत की सुरक्षा पर आंच नहीं आने देंगे। हाल ही में एक इंटरव्यू के दौरान चीन को लेकर पूछे सवाल पर उन्होंने यह प्रतिक्रिया दी। खास बात है कि मुइज्जू रविवार को भारत पहुंचे हैं। सोमवार को वह प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी से मुलाकात करने वाले हैं। उन्होंने भारत को मालदीव का अहम साझेदार करार दिया है। खास बात है कि चीन समर्थक माने जाने वाले मुइज्जू के सरकार संभालने के बाद से ही भारत और मालदीव के रिश्ते तल्खभरे हो गए थे। इस दौरान उनके मंत्रियों की पीएम मोदी की लक्षद्वीप यात्रा को लेकर विवादित टिप्पणी समेत कई बातें शामिल हैं।
टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया से बातचीत में जब मुइज्जू से पूछा गया कि आप चीन के साथ काम कर रहे हैं, तो क्या भारत इस भरोसे में रह सकता है कि मालदीव ऐसा कुछ नहीं करेगा जिससे भारत के रक्षा हितों पर असर पड़े। इसपर उन्होंने अखबार से कहा कि मालदीव कभी भी ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं करेगा, जिससे भारत की सुरक्षा कमजोर हो। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत अहम साझेदार है और मालदीव का दोस्त है और हमारा रिश्ता साझा सम्मान और साझा हितों पर टिका है। उन्होंने कहा कि हम अलग-अलग क्षेत्रों में अन्य देशों के साथ हमारा सहयोग बढ़ा रहे हैं, तो ऐसे में यह सुनिश्चित करने में प्रतिबद्ध हैं कि हमारे कामों से क्षेत्र की सुरक्षा और स्थिरता प्रभावित नहीं होगी। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि मालदीव भारत के साथ अपने पुराने रिश्तों को तरजीह देना जारी रखेगा और हमें भरोसा है कि अन्य देशों से हमारी बातचीत भारत के सुरक्षा हितों को कमजोर नहीं करेगी। इससे पहले भी मुइज्जू और पीएम मोदी COP28 के दौरान पीएम मोदी से मिल चुके हैं। साथ ही वह पीएम मोदी के लगातार तीसरे शपथ ग्रहण समारोह भी में भी अन्य देशों के साथ मेहमान के तौर पर शामिल हुए थे।
