परिवादी शंकरलाल ने पुलिस को दर्ज करवाई रिपोर्ट में बताया कि 12 नवंबर की दोपहर उसकी बेटी सरिता किसी काम से बाहर निकली थी। इसी दौरान अचानक उसका पैर फिसल गया और वह पास ही स्थित पानी की टंकी में गिर गई। पानी में गिरने के बाद वह बाहर नहीं निकल पाई और उसकी मौके पर ही मौत हो गई। यह घटना इतनी अचानक हुई कि परिवार के किसी सदस्य को इसकी भनक तक नहीं लगी।

जब परिजनों ने सरिता को काफी देर तक नहीं देखा तो उन्होंने उसकी तलाश शुरू की। खोजबीन के दौरान जब उन्होंने पानी की टंकी में झांका, तो सरिता को अंदर देखकर उनके पैरों तले जमीन खिसक गई। परिजन उसे तुरंत बाहर निकालकर अस्पताल ले गए, लेकिन डॉक्टरों ने उसे मृत घोषित कर दिया। सरिता की आठ महीने की गर्भावस्था ने पूरे परिवार और गांव में गहरा दुख भर दिया है।
