देशभर में लोको पायलटों का विरोध एक नए चरण में प्रवेश कर गया है। ऑल इंडिया लोको रनिंग स्टाफ एसोसिएशन (AILRSA) के आह्वान पर मंगलवार से सभी लोको पायलट 48 घंटे के सामूहिक उपवास पर चले गए हैं। इस विरोध में देहरादून के करीब 70 लोको पायलट भी हिस्सा ले रहे हैं। राहत की बात यह है कि उपवास के बावजूद सभी लोको पायलट अपनी-अपनी ड्यूटी करते रहेंगे, जिससे ट्रेनों के संचालन पर कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ेगा। रेलवे अधिकारियों के अनुसार रनिंग रूम में खाना नहीं पकाया जाएगा, लेकिन सभी पायलट सेवा सामान्य रूप से जारी रखेंगे।

लोको पायलटों का यह आंदोलन उनकी लंबे समय से लंबित मांगों के समाधान के लिए है। AILRSA के देहरादून शाखाध्यक्ष ने बताया कि विभाग को कई बार ज्ञापन देने के बावजूद उनकी प्रमुख मांगों पर कोई ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं हुई। उनकी प्रमुख मांगों में किलोमीटर भत्ता (KMA) में संशोधन, स्टाफ की भारी कमी दूर करना, लोकोमोटिव इंजन में शौचालय की व्यवस्था और लंबी ड्यूटी के बाद पर्याप्त आराम देने वाले नियमों को लागू करना शामिल है।

लोको पायलटों का कहना है कि स्टाफ की कमी के कारण उन्हें लगातार अत्यधिक समय तक ड्यूटी करनी पड़ती है, जो न सिर्फ उनके स्वास्थ्य पर प्रभाव डालती है, बल्कि ट्रेन संचालन की सुरक्षा के लिए भी खतरा पैदा करती है। कई पायलटों ने बताया कि 10 से 14 घंटे की लगातार ड्यूटी उनकी मानसिक व शारीरिक क्षमता को प्रभावित करती है। महिला लोको पायलटों के लिए स्थिति और अधिक चुनौतीपूर्ण है, क्योंकि आज भी अधिकतर इंजनों में शौचालय की सुविधा उपलब्ध नहीं है।

विरोध के स्वरूप पर शाखाध्यक्ष ने बताया कि यह पूरी तरह शांतिपूर्ण और प्रतीकात्मक आंदोलन है। उन्होंने कहा कि लोको पायलट समझते हैं कि ट्रेन संचालन जनता की जीवनरेखा है, इसलिए उपवास के बावजूद वे अपनी ड्यूटी पूरा कर रहे हैं ताकि यात्रियों को किसी प्रकार की परेशानी न हो।

लोको पायलटों का यह भी कहना है कि रेलवे विभाग केवल आश्वासन देता है लेकिन वर्षों से उनकी मूल समस्याएं जस की तस बनी हुई हैं। बार-बार दिए गए ज्ञापन, बैठकों और अनुरोधों का कोई परिणाम सामने नहीं आने के कारण उन्हें यह कदम उठाना पड़ा है। उनका कहना है कि वे चाहते हैं कि उनकी समस्याओं का समाधान जल्द से जल्द किया जाए ताकि ट्रेन सुरक्षा और कर्मचारी कल्याण—दोनों सुनिश्चित हो सकें।

रेलवे सूत्रों के अनुसार, विभाग ने पायलटों की मांगों को संज्ञान में लिया है और उच्च स्तर पर इस मुद्दे पर चर्चा चल रही है। हालांकि, लोको पायलटों का कहना है कि जब तक मांगों पर निर्णय नहीं होता, तब तक आंदोलन जारी रहेगा।

The nationwide loco pilots' protest has entered a new phase. At the call of the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA), all loco pilots began a 48-hour mass fast on Tuesday. Around 70 loco pilots from Dehradun are also participating in this protest. It's a relief that despite the fast, all loco pilots will continue to perform their duties, which will not affect train operations. According to railway officials, food will not be cooked in the running room, but all pilots will continue to operate as normal.

This loco pilots' protest is aimed at resolving their long-pending demands. The Dehradun branch president of AILRSA stated that despite submitting several memorandums to the department, no concrete action has been taken on their key demands. Their key demands include revision of the kilometer-mileage allowance (KMA), addressing the severe staff shortage, providing toilet facilities on locomotive engines, and implementing regulations that provide adequate rest after long hours of duty.

Loco pilots say that due to staff shortages, they are forced to work long hours, which not only impacts their health but also poses a threat to the safety of train operations. Many pilots reported that continuous duty hours of 10 to 14 hours impact their mental and physical abilities. The situation is even more challenging for female loco pilots, as even today, most locomotives lack toilet facilities.

Regarding the nature of the protest, the branch head stated that it is a purely peaceful and symbolic movement. He said that loco pilots understand that train operations are the lifeline of the public, so despite the fast, they are performing their duties to ensure passengers are not inconvenienced.

The loco pilots also say that the Railway Department only offers assurances, but their core problems remain unresolved for years. Repeated memorandums, meetings, and requests have yielded no results, forcing them to take this step. They say they want their problems resolved as soon as possible to ensure both train safety and employee welfare.

According to railway sources, the department has taken cognizance of the pilots' demands and the issue is being discussed at a high level. However, the loco pilots say they will continue their agitation until a decision is reached on their demands.
