हाथरस जिले में चल रहे विशेष मतदाता सत्यापन अभियान (Special Intensive Revision – SIR) के दौरान बीएलओ के रूप में ड्यूटी निभा रहे असिस्टेंट टीचर कमलकांत शर्मा की मौत ने पूरे जिले को स्तब्ध कर दिया था। रविवार सुबह यह घटना उस समय हुई जब वह ड्यूटी के लिए तैयार हो रहे थे। अचानक चक्कर आकर गिरने के बाद उन्हें अलीगढ़ के मेडिकल कॉलेज ले जाया गया, जहां इलाज के दौरान उनका निधन हो गया।

कमलकांत शर्मा सिकंदराराऊ क्षेत्र के ब्राह्मणपुरी मटकोटा के रहने वाले थे और लालपुर स्थित संविलियन विद्यालय में असिस्टेंट टीचर के पद पर तैनात थे। SIR अभियान के दौरान उन्हें बीएलओ की अतिरिक्त जिम्मेदारी भी दी गई थी। परिवार के अनुसार, बढ़ते काम के दबाव और लगातार फील्ड कार्य के कारण वह मानसिक और शारीरिक तनाव में थे।

पति की मौत के बाद उनकी पत्नी नीलम शर्मा ने प्रशासन के सामने गुहार लगाई और आरोप लगाया कि अत्यधिक कार्यभार और SIR अभियान का दबाव ही इस त्रासदी का कारण बना। परिवार आर्थिक रूप से पूरी तरह उन पर निर्भर था। चार छोटे बच्चों, बुजुर्ग मां और पहले से दिवंगत भाई-बहन की जिम्मेदारी भी उन्हीं के कंधों पर थी।

यह मामला सामने आते ही जिला प्रशासन तुरंत हरकत में आया। हाथरस के जिलाधिकारी, पुलिस अधीक्षक और शिक्षा विभाग के अधिकारी परिजनों से मिले और हरसंभव सहायता का आश्वासन दिया। प्रशासन ने मामले की गंभीरता को देखते हुए तेज कार्रवाई की और केवल 72 घंटे के भीतर कमलकांत शर्मा की पत्नी नीलम शर्मा को बेसिक शिक्षा विभाग में चतुर्थ श्रेणी कर्मचारी के पद पर नियुक्त कर दिया।

आमतौर पर ऐसे मामलों में नियुक्ति प्रक्रिया हफ्तों या महीनों तक चलती है, लेकिन इस घटना में जिला प्रशासन की त्वरित कार्रवाई की व्यापक सराहना हो रही है। शुक्रवार को नीलम शर्मा को आधिकारिक रूप से नियुक्ति पत्र सौंप दिया गया। इस कदम ने शोकग्रस्त परिवार को आर्थिक सुरक्षा प्रदान की है और बच्चों के भविष्य को लेकर थोड़ी राहत दी है।

कमलकांत शर्मा की मौत ने बीएलओ प्रणाली के कार्यदबाव और मैदानी कर्मचारियों की चुनौतियों पर भी सवाल उठाए हैं। हाल के वर्षों में SIR अभियान के दौरान लंबी ड्यूटी, घर-घर सत्यापन और डेटा अपडेट जैसे कार्यों ने फील्ड स्टाफ पर दबाव बढ़ाया है। कई बीएलओ संगठनों ने भी पहले इस मुद्दे पर आवाज उठाई थी।

फिलहाल प्रशासन ने परिवार को राहत देते हुए त्वरित सहायता प्रदान की है और आगे की सभी औपचारिकताओं पर भी काम जारी है। जिले में इस तेजी से लिए गए फैसले को संवेदनशील और मानवीय दृष्टिकोण माना जा रहा है।

Administration takes action on the demise of BLO Kamalkant Sharma, his wife Neelam Sharma appointed to Class IV post

The death of Assistant Teacher Kamalkant Sharma, who was on duty as a BLO during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Hathras district, shocked the entire district. The incident occurred on Sunday morning while he was getting ready for duty. He suddenly fell unconscious and was rushed to Aligarh Medical College, where he passed away during treatment.

Kamalkant Sharma, a resident of Brahmanpuri Matkota in the Sikandrarao area, was posted as an Assistant Teacher at the Samvilian Vidyalaya in Lalpur. During the SIR campaign, he was also given the additional responsibility of BLO. According to the family, he was under mental and physical stress due to the increased workload and constant field work.

Following her husband's death, his wife, Neelam Sharma, appealed to the administration, alleging that the excessive workload and pressure of the SIR campaign led to the tragedy. The family was completely dependent on her financially. She shouldered the responsibility of four young children, an elderly mother, and a deceased sibling.

As soon as the matter came to light, the district administration swung into action. The Hathras District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, and Education Department officials met with the family and assured them of all possible assistance. Given the gravity of the matter, the administration took swift action and, within just 72 hours, appointed Kamalkant Sharma's wife, Neelam Sharma, to a Class IV employee in the Basic Education Department.

Typically, the appointment process in such cases drags on for weeks or months, but in this instance, the district administration's swift action has been widely praised. On Friday, Neelam Sharma was officially handed her appointment letter. This move has provided financial security to the grieving family and some relief regarding the children's future.

Kamalkant Sharma's death has also raised questions about the workload of the BLO system and the challenges faced by field staff. In recent years, long shifts during the SIR campaign, door-to-door verification, and data updates have increased the strain on field staff. Several BLO organizations have also previously raised this issue.

The administration has provided immediate relief and assistance to the family, and all further formalities are underway. This swift decision is being recognized in the district as a sensitive and humanitarian approach.
