बीकानेर। शहर में दहेज प्रताड़ना का एक और गंभीर मामला सामने आया है, जिसमें इम्फाल में रहने वाली बीकानेर मूल की युवती ने अपने पति, सास और ससुर पर दहेज में कार और पांच लाख रुपए मांगने, मानसिक प्रताड़ना देने और स्त्रीधन नहीं लौटाने के गंभीर आरोप लगाए हैं। पुलिस ने मामले में एफआईआर दर्ज कर जांच शुरू कर दी है।

पीड़िता नेहा उर्फ गरिमा, निवासी आड़सर बास, ने रिपोर्ट में बताया कि उसका विवाह 23 नवंबर 2023 को जयपुर निवासी एवं वर्तमान में इम्फाल स्थित हिमांशु दाधीच से हुआ था। विवाह के समय उसके माता-पिता ने अपनी क्षमता से अधिक दहेज व गहने दिए, लेकिन इसके बावजूद ससुराल पक्ष ने उसे शुरू से ही कम दहेज देने के ताने देना शुरू कर दिया।

दहेज में कार और 5 लाख की खुली मांग

पीड़िता के अनुसार, विवाह के कुछ ही दिनों बाद ससुर विजयकुमार दाधीच, सास हेमलता और पति हिमांशु उसे कार और पांच लाख रुपए लाने का दबाव बनाने लगे। दहेज की मांग पूरी नहीं करने पर उसे लगातार जलील किया जाता था। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, आरोपी यह भी कहते थे कि हिमांशु का विवाह किसी "मालदार परिवार" में कर देंगे, जहां से अधिक दहेज मिल सके।

मानसिक प्रताड़ना और घर से निकालने तक की स्थिति

पीड़िता ने पुलिस को बताया कि वह शादी के बाद इम्फाल में रहती थी, जहां उसका जीवन शुरू से ही तनावपूर्ण था। उसे हर बात पर ताना मारा जाता और घर छोड़कर जाने को कहा जाता। फरवरी 2025 में, ससुराल वालों ने यह कहकर उसे पीहर भेज दिया कि वे अब उसे पसंद नहीं करते।

ससुराल वालों की प्रताड़ना से उसकी तबीयत इतनी बिगड़ गई कि उसे करीब 15 दिन तक आईसीयू में भर्ती रहना पड़ा। पीड़िता ने सास हेमलता को "खूंखार और खतरनाक" बताते हुए कहा कि वह घर में शांति से रहने नहीं देती थी तथा बार-बार अपमानित करती थी।

स्त्रीधन रोककर रखा, पीड़िता के परिवार को जलील किया

18 जून 2025 को आरोपी पक्ष श्रीडूंगरगढ़ आए और पीड़िता के माता-पिता के साथ भी अभद्रता की। उन पर गालियां देने और धमकाने का आरोप भी लगाया गया है। पीड़िता ने बताया कि उसका स्त्रीधन भी ससुराल वालों ने लौटा नहीं किया है।

पुलिस ने मामला दर्ज कर जांच शुरू की

पुलिस ने पीड़िता की ओर से दर्ज कराई गई शिकायत के आधार पर पति हिमांशु, सास हेमलता और ससुर विजयकुमार के खिलाफ दहेज प्रताड़ना, मानसिक उत्पीड़न, स्त्रीधन हड़पने और धमकाने की धाराओं में केस दर्ज कर एसआई राजेंद्र कुमार को जांच सौंपी है।

यह मामला फिर एक बार दहेज प्रथा की भयावहता और महिलाओं पर होने वाली प्रताड़ना की गंभीर तस्वीर पेश करता है। पुलिस अब मामले में आगे की कार्रवाई कर रही है।

A Bikaner-born woman living in Imphal has accused her husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law of demanding a car and Rs 5 lakh as dowry, subjecting her to mental torture, and not returning her dowry. Police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.

The victim, Neha alias Garima, a resident of Aadasar Bas, reported that she was married to Himanshu Dadhich, a resident of Jaipur and currently living in Imphal, on November 23, 2023. At the time of marriage, her parents gave more dowry and jewelry than they could afford, but despite this, her in-laws began taunting her for giving less dowry from the very beginning.

A car and an open demand for Rs 5 lakh as dowry

According to the victim, within a few days of marriage, her father-in-law Vijaykumar Dadhich, mother-in-law Hemlata, and husband Himanshu began pressuring her to bring a car and Rs 5 lakh. She was constantly humiliated if she failed to meet the dowry demands. According to the report, the accused also threatened to marry Himanshu into a "wealthy family" where they could obtain more dowry.

Mental Torture and Even Being Driven Out of the House

The victim told police that after marriage, she lived in Imphal, where her life was stressful from the start. She was taunted for every little thing and asked to leave the house. In February 2025, her in-laws sent her back to her parents' home, saying they no longer loved her.

Her health deteriorated due to the harassment from her in-laws, leading to her being admitted to the ICU for approximately 15 days. The victim described her mother-in-law, Hemlata, as "fierce and dangerous," saying she prevented her from living peacefully at home and repeatedly insulted her.

Withheld Stridhan, Humiliated Victim's Family

On June 18, 2025, the accused came to Sridungargarh and mistreated the victim's parents. They are also accused of abusing and threatening her. The victim stated that her in-laws have not returned her Stridhan.

Police Register Case and Begin Investigation

Based on the victim's complaint, the police have registered a case against husband Himanshu, mother-in-law Hemlata, and father-in-law Vijay Kumar under sections of dowry harassment, mental harassment, usurpation of Stridhan, and intimidation, and assigned the investigation to SI Rajendra Kumar.

This case once again presents a grim picture of the horrors of the dowry system and the torture it inflicts on women. The police are now taking further action in the case.
